Who We Are

Bottom Line Tackle Pelican catchin fish small logo
We are fresh and saltwater fishermen who got frustrated from using store bought tackle that didn’t reliably catch fish. Seemed like we spent more energy fishing than catching!
We saw the problem as being the result of them using junky material coupled with design issues.
Since big companies must stay cost-effective, they can't offer the best fishing tackle possible, like we do.
So we began handcrafting our own fishing tackle but using higher quality components such as:
  • Kokanee lures with ball bearing swivels, Gammy hooks and Fluorocarbon leader
  • Saltwater jigs for lingcod and all bottomfish designed with 3-D eyes, then powder coated and clear coated to protect the brighter color contrast.
Soon, we were out fishing our buddies.
Following their encouragement, we decided to try marketing our tackle items.
"Why not?" we thought, "Maybe we might make enough to pay for a fishing trip".
Which, by the way, is still the reason we're here.
We are not trying to get rich off you.
What we are doing is providing you with a way to have a more productive experience on the water.

8 lb. No Snag Downrigger stick weight 14 1/2 in. long

We combine innovation with quality material for a unique handcrafted design.

EXAMPLE: No-Snag Downrigger Weights

Terry (the honcho of Bottom Line Tackle) got tired of losing stuck lead ball downrigger weights.

He decided to replace them with a solid Stainless Steel rod not only to prevent snags, but also for these added benefits absent in a traditional lead ball:

  • Fresh OR Saltwater use
  • less blowback
  • better tracking
  • no lead - if it should get hung up and could not be freed, it wouldn't lie on the bottom throwing out toxins as it decomposed.
Our Stainless Steel No-Snag downrigger weight is a prime example of how we combine innovation and quality material for a unique handcrafted design.

fishing experience

We have caught Steelhead on the Klamath, Kokanee in Flaming Gorge, Cutthroat from ladders at Pyramid Lake, Rainbows in Alberta, Salmon in Oregon, Marlin in Cabo, Yellowfin in Hawaii, and Ling Cod and bottomfish up and down the Pacific Coast from Gold Beach, Oregon to Erendira, Baja together with all the siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, of those and other species in the Freshwater lakes and rivers throughout the western U.S., in coastal inshore ocean waters from British Columbia to the tip of Baja and offshore in the bluewater of Cabo, Hawaii and Costa Rica.

The purpose in saying all this is not to make a feeble attempt at bragging but to let you know that we have spent a lot of time on the water and have learned through experience what works for us to catch fish.

That experience is what we bring to you in these pages.
