#1- VOLTAGE REGULATOR

For obvious reasons, we can't call it a Black Box (that remarkable product produced by Pro-Troll), but....although we use more cost effective materials in design (saving you $$), the universal principles remain the same:

in the water, small electrical currents are generated as the minerals in the water react with the different metals on or attached to your boat. This process is known as electrolysis
it has been proven that fish are attracted to a positive electrical charge and are repelled by a negative one (Salmonids, which include kokanee, trout and salmon, are among the species most sensitive to an electrical field).
on a boat, the hull itself (if metal) and all other metal parts such as motor shafts, electric trolling motors and thru hull fittings in contact with the water have a negative charge.
for a Voltage Regulator to function properly, metal parts with a negative charge must be connected together - for example with a common wire.
all other metal objects in contact with the water (like stainless downrigger cable) that are on the boat but are not connected to the common wire have a positive charge.
if the boat and down rigger are set up properly, a positive charge on the down rigger wire will attract fish - for example a recommended setting for Kokanee is 0.650 volts
the bottom line is a you can improve your catch by controlling and stabilizing the positive charge to the ideal voltage by using a Voltage Regulator
